Application for the 2025/2026 Chris Heyde & Joe Gani Scholarship at the Australian National University is open to local and international students who wish to continue their postgraduate research program in Australia. The scholarship is sponsored by the funded generated from friends, family, ANU Endowment of Excellence, and colleagues in memory of Chris Heyde & Joe Gani to provide financial aid to applicants who wish to further their education in one of the following fields such as Stochastic Analysis, Statistics, and Probability. This is a competitive scholarship with a limited number of 2 award and a value of $5000 AUD given to qualified applicants for the duration of the 2025/2026 Chris Heyde & Joe Gani Scholarship.

2025/2026 Chris Heyde & Joe Gani Scholarship Qualification

The following requirements must be met by the applicants in order to be eligible for the 2025/2026 Chris Heyde & Joe Gani Scholarship at the Australian National University:

  • Applicants who are local and international student are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a study program that will lead to the award of a PhD.
  • Applicants must be willing to undertake research in areas of stochastic analysis, statistical science or probability.
  • Applicants are required to apply 12 months before their research program commence.

Application process

In order to be eligible for the 2025/2026 Chris Heyde & Joe Gani Scholarship at the Australian National University:

  • Applicants are required to check the Conditions of the award and the Conditions of the Chris Heyde Joe Gani Scholarship award.
  • The scholarship application will be advertised on the ANU scholarship website, and the closing date set by the Mathematical Science.
  • Applicants will be required to provide a CV and a cover letter.
  • Applicants must write a personal statement on how they intend to use the scholarship, provide 3 references, and supporting documents which must be sent to the email of the Mathematical Sciences Institute, the Senior Administrative Officer (HDR and Education) before the closing date of the scholarship.
  • The selection process will be done by a selection committee that includes the Director, Research School of Finance, a member of the following fields: stochastic analysis, statistical science or probability, Actuarial Studies and Statistics or nominee, and the Director, Mathematical Science Institute or nominee.
