2026/2027 Family Empowerment Scholarship Program for Students with Unique Abilities in Florida Eligibility Criteria

The following requirements must be met by the applicants in order to be eligible for the 2026/2027 Family Empowerment Scholarship Program for Students with Unique Abilities in Florida (fes-ua scholarship):

  • The scholarship application is open to U.S. citizen or permanent resident students who are a dependent child of an active-duty member of the US Armed Forces who has received permanent change of station orders to this state or at the time of renewal, whose home of record or state of legal resident in Florida.
  • The scholarship is for 3 or 4 years of age during the student applies for program participation or enrolled into a public school in Florida from kindergarten through grade 12.
  • Applicants who are the subject of an IEP or one who has received a diagnosis of a disability from a physician or a psychologist licensed in Florida, or a physician who holds an active license issued by another state or territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
  • Candidates from age 3 through grade 12 or age 22 with specific diagnosis such as Anaphylaxis, Identification as dual sensory impaired, rare diseases, autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, being a high-risk child, intellectual disability, speech impairment, cerebral palsy, language impairment, speech impairment, down syndrome, muscular dystrophy, spine bifida, down syndrome, orthopedic impairment, traumatic brain injury, emotional or a behavioral disability, other health impairment, visual impairment including blindness, hearing impairment including deafness, phelan-McDermid syndrome, Williams syndrome, hospital or homebound, or prader-willi syndrome.
