The following requirements must be met by the applicants in order to be eligible for the 2025/2026 Sasakawa Fellowship Fund for Japanese Language Education (SFFJLE) Postgraduate Scholarship:
- Applicants must be a citizen of New Zealand or a permanent resident.
- Applicants must be enrolled into an undergraduate degree at any New Zealand University to study Japanese language.
- Applicants must show proof of leadership experience.

In order to be eligible for the 2025/2026 Sasakawa Fellowship Fund for Japanese Language Education (SFFJLE) Postgraduate Scholarship,
- Applicants must complete the scholarship application form.
- Applicants must provide evidence of their citizenship or New Zealand residency through birth certificate or passport.
- Applicants must provide details of their enrolment for the intended course of study from their university.
- Applicants must provide their study details on an offer of place from their tertiary institute.
- Applicants must provide all the complete tertiary transcripts for all qualifications.
- Applicants must provide an academic reference.
