2025/2026 Marshall-Motley Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
The following requirements must be met by the applicants in order to be eligible for the 2025/2026 Marshall-Motley Scholarship
- The scholarship application is open to U.S. students who are citizens or permanent resident green card holder who are resident of one of the following states such as Virginia, Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Missouri, Mississippi, Louisiana, Kentucky, Georgia, Florida, Arkansas, or Alabama.
- Applicants who are have obtained a bachelor’s degree no later than September 2025 from an accredited college or university can apply for the scholarship.
- Applicants must be accepted or enrolling into an ABA-accredited law school as a first year law student on a full-time basis.
- Applicants should begin their study program in the fall of 2025 in a 3-year full-time JD program.
- Applicants who are applying for a joint degree program or have completed one or more semesters of law school or intend to defer their enrollment are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
- Applicants who are part-time law students or applicants who do not need to designate the law school they will be attending at the time of the application are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
- Applicants who pursue a career in Civil Rights law and if awarded the scholarship must work in pursuit of radical justice in a southern state for a period of 8 years immediately after the scholarship award.
- Applicants pursuing a career in Civil Rights law must describe in their application a sustained personal statement in one of the following areas such as work or internship, academic or coursework, campus organizations, community-based organisations, volunteer, and research.
