2025/2026 Fulbright U.S. Student Program Eligibility Criteria
The following requirements must be met by the applicants in order to be eligible for the 2025/2026 Fulbright U.S. Student Program:
- The scholarship application is open to U.S. citizens or nationals of the United States of America.
- Applicants who are permanent resident of the United States of America are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
- Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent when applying for the scholarship.
- Candidates who are currently enrolled must graduate before the start of the scholarship application.
- Candidates must have excellent academic performance and good grades.
- It is essential for applicants to meet the language requirements for the award and hold a J.D at the time of application.
- Applicants who are Doctors of Medicine may receive grants for advanced academic study, but not for internships or residencies.
- Previous recipient of the award are eligible to apply for the scholarship if they meet all the other eligibility requirements of the program also preference will be given to applicants who have not previously held a Fulbright grant.
- Applicants with higher education undertaken primarily at education institutions will be given preference including candidates who served in the Armed Forces of the United States.
- Candidates who are employees of the U.S. Department of State or the U.S. Agency for International Development, employees of private and public agencies, officers of an organization, members of boards of trustees or similar governing bodies, board members or staff of Fulbright Commission, and immediate family members are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
- Applicants who currently hold or will hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D.), seeking enrollment in a medical degree program aboard, residing aboard for 5 or more years and dual national participating in a Fulbright program are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
