2025/2026 Voice of Democracy Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
The following requirements must be met by the applicants in order to be eligible for the 2025/2026 Voice of Democracy Scholarship:
- The scholarship application is open to U.S. students who are in grades 9-12 at parochial, private, and public high schools, home schools in the United States including the U.S. military and civilian dependent overseas school, its territories and possessions.
- Applicants must have excellent academic performance and good grades.
- Applicants are required to write a script between 3 and 5 minutes in length on a topic chosen annually but related to freedom and democracy on “How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country?”.
- Applicants must record the script themselves on a CD and submit it for sponsorship by a local post or auxiliary for the Veterans of Foreign Wards (VFM).
- It is essential for the applicant script to reflect the entrant’s own original thinking.
- The selection of qualified applicants will be based on their originality (30%), content (35%) and delivery (35%).
